Game of Thrones to air on Quickflix

Game of Thrones fans can now stream the TV show on almost every device through Australian streaming service, Quickflix.

Quickflix today announced it made a deal with HBO - the studio that produces the series - that  allows people to stream the show on Android and Apple phones and tablets, Macs, PCs, smart TVs and games consoles.

Game of Thrones will air on Quickflix the same time it becomes available on iTunes, about 24 hours after it airs on Foxtel, which broadcasts the show just two hours after it airs in the US.

Users can choose between buying HBO TV shows per episode, or by season and the license agreement allows users to stream it on up to five devices.

The streaming service has not yet announced how much it will cost to stream but CEO Stephen Langsford told news.com.au that its prices will be competitive to iTunes which charges $33.99 for a high definition season pass and $28.99 for a standard definition subscription.
"We are responding to consumers who are demanding current and recent series TV on their device of choice," he told news.com.au.
"Game of Thrones and other recent hit TV series from HBO will be available as a premium service in Quickflix in which customers can stream by episode or the whole season across on their screen of choice."
Mr Langsford hinted that Quickflix expected to add further hit TV series from other networks under the same model.
The announcement comes just weeks after news.com.au revealed attempts by studios to prevent piracy by fast-tracking the show still weren't enough.
The first episode of the new season of Game of Thrones was illegally pirated more than a million times even though Foxtel broadcats the show two hours after it airs in the US.
